Day 3 12/11/09

12:00 p.m.

Lee and Jennifer brought us food from Lupe Tortilla's for lunch. Sam has been craving mexican food since she delivered. We have the best family.

1:30 p.m.

Hank is hooked up to several lines (I.V.'s , sensors, etc.). They are taking one out that measures his blood pressure. The more stuff they take out that he doesn't need, the better.

2:00 p.m.

Sam got to breast feed for the very first time. She was so excited and Hank responded so good. He latched on as soon as Sam got him in position. It was amazing to see the love that filled her.

3:00 p.m.

We meet with Krystle, our social worker @ the hospital. She is assigned to us to help us with anything we need. She told us about all the different services the hospital provides. As soon as Krystle finished, Beth came by. Beth is the nurse that works with Dr. Douglas and Dr. Tsai (Hank's cardiac surgeon's). She told us that Hank's surgery will be Tues. 12/15 @ 8:00 a.m. They will come get Hank between 7:00 and 7:30 a.m. We have an appt. to meet with Dr. Tsai Monday @ 8:30 a.m. Beth said Hanks recovery time would be 4-6 weeks and he will be in surgery for 4-6 hours. After his surgery he will move to the 9th floor to the pediatric ICU. Beth took us up to the PICU to see what Hank might look like after his surgery. It was tough to see all those sick kids.

We didn't get a Ronald McDonald Room to stay at, so we went Samantha's friends house. Trista thank you so much for your hospitality

Congrats again on handsome lil Hank. This is Michelle, the NICU nurse who took care of him during his first day. I wanted to let you know that I'm praying for sweet little Hank and your family. Stay strong! Thank you for the gift as well, very sweet of you.

I will continue to pray for all of you and follow your blog until that sweet little boy goes home.
